In a dramatic come-from-behind victory, the Southern Crescent Lightning advanced to the semi-finals of the WBA Championships with a 146 - 137 overtime victory over the Cleveland Magic. The comeback culminated with two free throws by Jonathan Hargett with 16 seconds to play. In overtime, it was "ALL Lightning" as they scored the first 8 points and coasted to victory. The team was led by Dajan Smith who had 27 points and 10 rebounds and Nate Williams who contributed 28 points and 9 rebounds. Other top performances included Jonathan Hargett with 23 points and 8 assists and Marcus Taylor with 25 points and 8 assists. Two Peachtree City businessmen bought the city's minor league developmental basketball team on Feb. 1, just three months shy of the season opener April 22.
Brothers Todd and T.J. Hannon formed Hannon Brothers Sports Entertainment and paid a $50,000 franchise fee to the Atlanta-based World Basketball Association to become owners of the Southern Crescent Lightning, which debuted in Peachtree City last year.
"The league had the franchise to sell, and we were looking for business opportunities," said Todd Hannon. "We want to bring family entertainment to Peachtree City." The brothers are promising to get a larger part of the community interested in the team this year and vowing to not take a salary. Instead, proceeds will go directly back into the community with local high schools and youth programs receiving money. The Hannon’s goal is to get between 1,500 and 1,700 fans in the stands at each home game and they expect to hit those numbers by getting the community to rally around the team.

As a new team in the newly-formed World Basketball Association, our goal is to bring fun-filled family entertainment to the south metro area of Atlanta. The WBA is a developmental league that will allow talented young players to learn and be exposed to professional basketball, with the possibility of going on to the CBA, ABA, NBA or International Leagues.
